PHILLIES: They got swept

Yup, the headline sums this one up pretty well.

The Cardinals won 3-1 on Thursday night, sweeping the Phillies and handing them their fifth straight loss.

The Phillies' offense has been just flat out bad since they had a 13-run outburst against the New York Mets last Friday, having scored nine runs in the last five games.

The lack of offense--and other issues too, it isn't just one problem-- probably just cost them their season, as they have fallen to four games under .500 and 8.0 games back of the division leading Atlanta Braves.

Coming back from the All-Star break, the common thought was that these 10 games before the July 31 trade deadline will determine whether the Phillies will be buyers or sellers.

They are 1-5 since returning from the break with an overall record of 49-53. So, it looks like the Phillies are taking the seller moniker.

There are four games left before the deadline, with a three game series against the Detroit Tigers that starts on Friday night and a game against the San Francisco Giants that will start a three-game series against the defending world champs afterwards.

The Phillies really needed everything to click coming back from the break. Sadly, none of it did and their isn't enough time left to right the ship.
